Re: Paul ditchers looking for lifters
Paul, whatever you do, do not buy Smith Lifters! They will fail and ruin your engine. Tool steel lifters work well for my application. Do some research and I think you will be better off not using Smith lifters. I have 14 of them for a Chevrolet 302. Ticking time bomb!

Re: Paul ditchers looking for lifters
x2 for the tool steel lifters. The ceramic faced lifters were ok when there was nothing else available but now that there are tool steel lifters that can handle a lot of spring pressure I wouldn't use anything else. Like John said, a ticking time bomb, and when one goes the short block is gone. PPPC and Trend are good examples of tool steel lifters. Not meaning to bash the Smith/Schubeck style lifters, just my .02.

Re: Paul ditchers looking for lifters
I have several hundred lifter bodies that I had built several years ago. They are DLC coated and are shorter for a larger root diameter cam. They weigh less than a stock lifter, too. You could have Sherman do his mods to them and have a pretty trick piece. I'll make someone a deal on them. They might work for Paul's application.
