Racing Software Group Buy
Just spreading the word. This is not my deal, but thought others would benefit from it.
This is a pretty awesome group buy for some great engine and drag racing simulators, and information. Get it while you can.... http://speedtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=49168 |

Re: Racing Software Group Buy
A friend asked me for help yesterday. He is running Windows 10 and appears to be a file missing, when he tries to run it.

Re: Racing Software Group Buy
Don't panic guys had same problem this fix it.
The files should all be in your c:\windows\system32 folder then. Re: 2017 group buy in software question The problem you’re experiencing is most likely related to a conflict between another program on your computer. My guest is he used a upgraded windows 10 machine and not a new install windows 10 machine so the files where there before the upgrade. Try this fix: (1) Download this file - http://racingsupport.com/VB6_Old_Tools.zip (2) Extract the download zip file (Plenty of free apps online to do this if needed) (3) Find extracted folder “VB6_Old_Tools” and double click to open (4) Double click “setup(.exe)” file to run fix. |

Downloaded the file referenced in the post above. What do I have to lose at this point, Right? Looked for extracted folder "VB6_Old_Tools", that folder does not exist in the file that was downloaded. You tell me not to panic, yet the fixes do not work. The original download does not work. But the $99 non refundable charge went through and worked THE FIRST TIME. You admit that"guys have this same problem". How many actually worked? That's $99, times the 250 people who decided to participate in this "Group Buy", pretty good action for a country boy like me. "Don't Panic" Really? |

file, if not make a folder name it junk and copy the file into it, then extract or unzip it and you will see 4 files appear one will be setup.exe double click that one and it should be done. If all is well you can delete the junk folder if you'd like then. Hope this helps, He could have done better here I believe. |

Re: Racing Software Group Buy
All this kind of junk seems to work better using XP. If any want to load a Tiny XP OS alongside their current OS just for this type of software pm me for a download link.

I downloaded the file, save to desktop, unzipped the file. 2) Extract the download zip file (Plenty of free apps online to do this if needed) Searched through all of the files in the download. (3) Find extracted folder “VB6_Old_Tools” and double click to open This folder is not contained in the file, there is a folder with some portions of the name provided. I opened it and..... (4) Double click “setup(.exe)” file to run fix There is no exe file in the folder in the download. Don't panic guys had same problem this fix it. The files should all be in your c:\windows\system32 folder then. This is supposed to be a group buy for racers, not software designers. Make it user friendly. So....the software does not work and we cannot get our money refunded. Apparently I'm not the only one affected by this issue. Was the software intentionally faulty? I'm pretty sure there is a legal term to describe this condition. Last edited by Tom Broome; 03-21-2017 at 09:25 AM. Reason: Get to the point |

But if someone is selling a program package to 250+ "racers" (keyboard or otherwise), it would be only be logical to have it function with contemporary operating systems. I know that Windows 8/10 has special "challenges" for software developers. To use Garmin as an example, their software no longer runs on Windows XP. It will self uninstall if connected through the internet. This keeps them from having to design software that needs to operate through legacy and contemporary operating systems. I guess what really gets me wound up is the whole "racers helping racers" angle. I was just gullible enough to not put the charge on an AMEX where I could positively dispute the charges!
