2016 Factory Showdown Rules Posted
Well..just like everyone thought NHRA has decided to run N/A cars against the S/C cars heads up at last years weight breaks in the quick 8.
This will never work! Additional Showdown Rules are listed below: FS/XX: Supercharged entries only Index: 9.90 · Cars with a 2.3L Eaton supercharger must weigh a minimum of 3,300 lbs. · Cars with a 2.9L Whipple supercharger must weigh a minimum of 3,550 lbs. FS/X: Normally Aspirated entries only Index: 10.15 · Entries with Chevrolet 427, Dodge 426, and Ford 429 must weigh a minimum of 3,350 lbs. · 2011 Dodge V10 entries must weigh a minimum of 3,425 lbs. · All others entries must weigh a minimum of 3,200 lbs. So does this mean a 427/430 has to run at 3350 along with the 427/450 version, etc? Notice they left the HP ratings off the equation...pretty vague if you ask me but it doesn't matter. N/A cars have no chance of making the quick 8 unless only 8 cars show up...pretty sad for over 50% of the cars capable of competing if they would just put a restriction on the S/C entries. After Gainsville it should be more than evident...

At Indy last year the 427/430 was at 3200. I am assuming that is still good?

Re: 2016 Factory Showdown Rules Posted
Darren,
One would assume that you are correct but the rules don't necessarily say that as they are currently posted. Last years rules definitely say that for sure but the 16 rules are vague. I sure hope you are correct because I think this may be the better of the two GM 427's? I'm not completely sure the 427/430 is better but Merc & I plan to find out by running our COPO in FSS/E for a while so we don't have to let off the gas during an event. The car weight will be about the same as FS/X so should tell us something about the differences between two engines. Perhaps after Gainsville NHRA will see the error in their ways and fix the rules so that all cars capable of running the shootout will again be competitive?

I think there are meetings with the manufacturers down here about this and other things.

I wonder how the new Dodge Viper ADR ( American Drag racer ) will fit in all this. The supercharged V10 with an 8 speed auto will make it very interesting...Luke
