Illegal ignition boxes at Atco
Heard a rumor at Atco LODRS race this weekend that there were some illegal ignition boxes being used that had traction control capabilities. What Box and is this true?

Re: Illegal ignition boxes at Atco
Yes, it is true that D1 tech inspectors are looking at MSD boxes.. to my knowledge, they were looking at Comp, but some racers in other classes were also asked.. I was not among them.. LOL
They are looking for the MSD box that has the traction control option as it has been deemed illegal for use in NHRA racing.. They did find one or two, but I don't know what action was taken.. |

Re: Illegal ignition boxes at Atco
At the Joliet Nationals they made a top dragster guy pitted across from me change delay boxes and disallowed his qualifing pass with the other box. I don't know what kind of box it was or what he replaced it with, but I do know NHRA officials were involved. It had to do with traction control Issues.

Re: Illegal ignition boxes at Atco
They were checking ignition boxes at both NED and Atco. RC asked me to pull my cowl off at the end of a qualifying run to check. I run the 7530T or 75301(same as the 30T, but with data aquistion). I was told they found 5 with the illegal 7531 box at NED, and I know of at least 1 at Atco(I loaned him one of my spares so he could race). The 7531 has traction control capabilities and has been illegal for many years. It specifically states that number as being prohibited in the rule book. I believe the 7535 is legal, but it has boost retard controls and such, so isn't really practical to have for most people.

They checked last week in Seattle div 6 race too. They were specifically looking for them. Maybe cause we were from div 7? LOL!
