Question 3.2A/1 pants in S/ST for '09?

I just got my '09 NHRA rule book yesterday. I see that the single layer jacket and pants will be required for the lower Super Stock classes and Stock classes through M/S and M/SA, but the S/ST section still reads the same. It only list requiring a 3.2A/1 jacket as long as the car does not run 135 MPH or faster.

Was this something that might have been ommitted? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

From how I interpreted the general rule was if the class required you to wear a jacket the same SFI pants were required but thats just way I read it not sure for sure.

I have not gotten my rule bok yet, but I think itis a good idea to get everyone one the same page for basic rules. they want the typical SST driver to wear single layer pants/jacket sure not a problem.
I already wear a pair of single layer fire pants.

My daughter drove Jr's and she had fire pants.

Guys are wearing sweat pants, nylon shell pants and jeans in their cars, having the stock classes have to wear them to is a great idea. A single layer jacket and pants is not going to break anyones bank account and it is good insurance.

As per IHRA's rule changes listed for 2009:

"If the entry does not have the OEM floor and firewall, a jacket and pants meeting a minimum of SFI 3.2A-5 are mandatory."

I still have the stock firewall, but not the stock floor. So the way this reads, I need to run 5-layer jacket and pants regardless of how quickly I run.

Thats the way i read it. 5 layer in s/st if faster than 135. In listed classes of stock single layer pants AND jacket. Superstock has to wear 5 layer in certain classes, or if faster than 9.99 and 135, and single layer pants and jacket in listed classes. Makes sense to me..never understood why a stocker running faster than me could get away with just a jacket!!
