Default Stolen race car

FYI - a stolen drag car from our area. Had an NMCA decal in addition to the NHRA decal on the car, but I don't know if they actually raced with either them. Looks like a bracket car.

Hard to miss: bright purple Monte.

Here's a link to the story.

Somebody tried to steal my super Stocker last night at my house....luckily the ramps that are usually on the trailer were in the enclosed trailer at dads house so they gave up on taking it off the trailer and then tried to steal the truck with the trailer...I got lucky they took a hatout of my truck and 10 bucks plus about a dollar in pennies...

Angry Re: Stolen race car

You know we used to shoot and/or hang horse thieves. Why not car thieves?

Years ago Da gave me a very simple solution for rig from being stolen.:

Simply put atoggle switch in a location (under seat ex.) that will kill the feed to the fuel pump. They can get in but they cannot start it

At my shop we installed kill switches. Thiefs around here learned to look for toggle switches. I started hiding buttons under the carpet. Used AC relays, wired to the starter and the horn. If you don't step on the carpet (& button) before you turn the key, the horn honks instead of the starter spinning. They could attract a lot of attention before they figured out where to step.

When someone is stealing a car, especially a race car with open headers, I doubt they are starting it - I would figure throw it in neutral and push to a trailer w/ a winch. Much quieter. Now, when they go to start it in their thief-cave, they might have an unpleasant surprise with those kill-switches.

Easy to protect a race car in a garage.
Take a $2.00 extension cord, cut off the female end, seperate the wires, strip the wires, Place the car over a woolen rug, soak rug in water, attach one end of wire to a good ground on the car, attach the other to the rug. (small bolt and some big washers work well. Plug other end into socket.
Make sure you never forget to unplug before going to touch car.

The boys in blue will lock you up if someone dies (or gets hurt) over that deal. Remember the guy who set up a shot gun (I dont remember where) and the burgler was wounded. He sued and won and the guy trying to protect his property was forced to pay and pay and pay plus time behind bars.

We live out in the country and meth is real bad here so unfortunetly we deal with thieves often. Its got to the point that we now have about every piece of home security stuff you can get including cameras that record to a dvd in a safe and I am building my new shop big enough to get my toter and trailer inside to further protect it from the scumbags. One of the boys (a teenager) I caught a few years ago later commited another home invasion just south of us in Sesser IL. His name is Antonio Smith and he got 40 years for cutting the womans throat almost killing her and then stealing her car. He got nothing but some community service for the thefts he commited the night I caught him. Its made me think before going out at night to run them off as that could have been me. The bad part for us is at times there is only one deputy to cover the whole county and by the time they get here the thieves are long gone so we have to fend for ourselves as best as we can.
