Crate motor and Pure Stock owners knew the landscape at NHRA tracks when they picked the combination...how about letting Larry concentrate on running the race? Hats off to everyone who goes out of their way to organize a combo race.

Seems to me the IHRA car question would be resolved by the whoever is promoting the event.
If a group of S/SS racers promise the track they'll bring in 60-70 cars, but NO IHRA classes, I'm sure the operator would listen.

On the other hand, with a track rental situation it's up to the promoter.
I would allow IHRA cars in our combos, if we had any out here, as well as Comp cars that want to dial in.
I'm sure the racers would appreciate the increase in pay out.

Michael Beard had plenty of IHRA cars this past May...at an NHRA owned track

Good luck , Larry and company

I am not running the race, Beacon is. I want the race to be a success so we as class racers have another place to race.

Beacon has everything in place to be a very successful track. Easy to get to, less than 5 miles of off exit 11 on I-24. Good parking, pavement and grass, the cars stay very clean. Race procedure is fair, firm, and friendly. Climate controlled and very clean restrooms. Good food fairly priced in the concession area that is also climate controlled and has comfortable seating. The track is family friendly!

Track prep is done with PJ1 it used to be called VHT. The track has a counter rotating four race slick tractor that puts down rubber on the racing surface, plus the conventional tractor that sprays and drags slicks on a weighted sled. The starting line crew is pro active on the bald spots using "Gold Dust" to help maintain the hook.

See you in the lanes!

Larry, you may want to talk to the people at Beacon about allowing IHRA-class cars into the combos there in the future. I've been promoting/putting on these types of races for sixteen years with our TSSSSA events. Most, if not all, S/SS Associations allow IHRA cars (except Bowling Green/Ohio Valley for whatever reason(s) ). There can be a decent addition to the car count by allowing IHRA cars into these races, especially if a car count of x-cars needs to be met for the track. I always believed a S/SS combo should be open to ALL cars that are NHRA and IHRA-legal cars (and many S/SS Assn's allow N/SS now as well, to help car counts). Just a thought for the future.

Everyone knows that the IHRA cars people try to class race are mostly pieces of ***** just thrown together like the first episodes of Pinks. If they don't want IHRA cars at their race, I don't blame them.

...now if you think my comments above are absurd, it is not nearly absurd as not letting any IHRA cars participate in a S/SS combo.

What is the difference between an IHRA Crate motor car and one of the new factory stockers? Ford Motorsport/Ford Racing sold my GT40 engine in 1992. I can't see where that's a whole lot different than buying a 5.0 Coyote in 2014 and stuffing it in a Cobra Jet. Am I wrong, crazy, what?

What about a 500 cube Hemi running N/SS? What is stock or superstock about that?

Just some thoughts from a West Virginia Hillbilly.

This weekend @Indy will be the first NHRA race for me and my car. I have bracket raced it and been out testing with it. But this is really its first time out to a sanctioned race. If all goes OK I am going to try and come to this race and maybe the BG race the day after. Only problem is somewhere in here it says something about rig size. I am almost 75 feet long and right now its the only thing I have to haul it with. Hopefully we can figure something out.
