Back about 100 years ago when I started in this sport NASCAR was the governing body at Atco in NJ and they had a Leavers lose (LL) system.

Staging lights, one yellow and one green, basically a pro tree,. I believe it was a five tenths tree. The tree was shaded so you couldn't see the other guys light.

So a higher class stick car gets to sit there with the engine reved up in the thunder zone while waiting on the other car to leave then for his light to come on? That'll junk up the starting line quick and park a lot of stick cars..

Mr Stewart, I drove a stick shift car for many years and for many rounds, and I never once thought about doing anything different in accordance with what the driver in the other lane was doing or not doing.
Beside that, no one decides when to rev their engine into the thunder zone, except for you ,my friend.
Way too little here , and much too late...

Stick drivers that use blinders bring it up early now. I don't see it as a big deal as long as you use a two step and put the rpm where you are comfortable with it.

The guy Chris is talking about has been driving stick cars for over 50 years. He does not have a two step, either.

Thank you for your replies, perhaps ya'll can straighten me out.
What if you have to leave at 8600rpm to get a good leave? You can't just park there at 8600 and wait for a light to come on.

you would leave as you do now, the red light decision comes on after faster car leaves

Well, that is harder period unless it just doesn't matter how high you leave. Why would it be harder with true start though?

I say this as a person that could care less about true start one way or the other. Just wondering what I am missing.
