Re: Tru Start coming!
I would like to see a 5 tenths pro tree for stock and super stock. That would eliminate a lot of red lights. I am not a fan of the tru start personally.

Re: Pro Tree in handicap racing
I'm old but this is how I remember it . If it makes no sense just ignore it and chalk it up to my DOB ------If I spot my opponent one bulb and he leaves the instant he sees the green (not the last yellow) he left 5 tenths on the tree. If I leave the instant I see his car move I essentially left on
my last yellow ( not the green ) and most of that 5 tenths head start just evaporated. ------- Back in the seventies IHRA used the pro tree for S/Stock and Stock . Richard Griffin and Terry Earwood driving Hemi Mopars had it figured out and was killing everybody including me. Terry told me all he had to do was watch my quarter panel clear his ft. fender and hit it . Caught me in second gear and rode me to the finish line. I'm dead on or under and he's in by 2 or 3 tenths. IHRA dropped it the next year. Any of you other antiques remember this. By the way I learned from it and loved it when the shoe was on the other foot.

Re: Tru Start coming!
What a long, bizarre, sometimes nasty road this issue has traveled.
It’s like waking up in 2016 and learning you don’t have to use MS-DOS and serial printer ports anymore. |

Re: Tru Start coming!
I would have no problems going to a 5 tenths pro start, and having thought about it some, I don't see the down side to Tru Start. I get to be on both sides, leaving first and last.
Look at who hates it, the higher class cars that like free rounds. I'm not sure it would change much anyway.

Re: Tru Start coming!
This is about the only rule that doesn't conform to the "First or Worst" scenario. Its beyond time to make the change. I am in favor.

Re: Tru Start coming!
Danny, you are absolutely right about the system IHRA tried, it was only slightly better than the one car length per class we got before the Christmas tree came out, probably would have been better had the tree been blocked but still terrible for the lower class cars.

Re: Tru Start coming!
I did some 5 tenths pro tree when we tried top stock, it was a blast. The problem would be the stick shift guys trying to spot slower cars while bracket racing. It can be a long time to sit on the limiter.
