Wish I'd known they allowed them again. Went and bought the GM open base after they told us we couldn't use them anymore. Nice to know they will let us run them again.

I have seen these on a number of division one cars. I can't find one like the one on Jim B.'s car though. Looks like it could be worth something.

Question Re: Air Cleaner Question

Not trying to rob this topic but,,
Speaking of air cleaners, Does anyone have a bottom to fit a 4-gc carb ?

Or any ideas for performance using the air cleaners in stock?

Keep in mind, there are a variety of spun and stamped aluminum bases available. The differences in profile can be significant. There are bases that perform well and others that create issues. The steel base without radius that includes areas to accommodate the needle and seat/float adjuster is one example.

We test these bases using flow rates to 1200 SCFM each day. Filter outlet diffusion is very important. Pay attention to the radius design of the rise and be cognizant of the fact that a drop base with a lid creates velocity concerns, especially with a short filter.

There are ways to maximize this profile and provide a consistent delivery to the boosters.
