Default Stock Eliminator steering column

Recently looked at an NHRA stock eliminator car that had a non OEM steering column with removable wheel.
My question: is that legal?

Yes, that is my understanding that you cannot have
a removable wheel.
I have seen several lightweight steering shafts but
I do not think they are legal either.

Not sure about shafts but removable wheel IS LEGAL, a necessity and quicker to get out of (if needed) on several cars with a cage.

This is how the rule is written:

STEERING WHEELS
"Aftermarket steering wheels permitted, minimum diameter 11
inches. Removable steering wheels permitted. Lengthening of
steering column prohibited. Must maintain OEM length."

You are also allowed to remove the turn signal lever and the column ignition switch with the locking mechanism when applicable.

The removal of the steering wheel allows the driver ease to enter and egress the car with full cages and a window net.

Now to find a removable kit that allows use of stock steering wheel.

Why? You are allowed the use of an aftermarket steering wheel.
I don't think those with steering wheels that have an airbag would enjoy having an explosive squib go off while on a run.

Grant does kits for many OE columns to adapt to their quick release hub.

No bag on a 70 Duster and I like the stock wheel look.

So you don't need the key/lock, the blinker switch, the 4 way , the air bag cover wheel, etc.
and you can use a quick release, non-stock wheel setup
Why don't they just say you can fabricate a chrome moly column ,and paint to match?
Stock length? How do they know that? Is the a spec somewhere?
This reminds me of the stock width rear, which was a rule that wasn't enforced, until the point where they didn't care anyway.
Changing the face of Stock Eliminator, all in the name of "safety", don't ya know!
