Re: 1957 chevy in stock
Well, I've got a nice 2 dr hard top sitting in my shop that never gets driven. It's a bell air with an inline 6, 3 on the tree over drive & 4.10 gears.
I love the car, but never get a chance to use it. thought I'd make it into a stocker?? That way I WILL do something with it! Thanks for all the info!! I need to see what the powers at be have to say....

Re: 1957 chevy in stock
I learn so much from youse guys. This post was interesting as I have thought seriously about a lower class Stock class car for awhile. I wasn't aware that the 55-57s could still be run. I have a 57 more-door belaire setting in the garage. 283 -power pack ,powerglide. If in fact the car could run with a metric trans, would the four door allow me some advantage -jumping class ,ect?
Can someone tell me what the car would have to run for the NHRA index? Did i mention ,I really like this car ,but i seem to ignore it way too much. Thanks

Re: 1957 chevy in stock
OK I'm just a Ford guy asking this. A 57 has the motor mounts @ the very front of the block and, if I remember right, a mount on each side of the bell housing. Then the trans just hung from there. @ least this is how a 57 Pontiac is, (I had 1). My question is this; how, under Stock rules are you going to put a Metric trans in that ?
