Yes there are several GM bulletins on it. And the problem only gets worse if you put a numerically higher than factory rear gear ratio in it. I'm assuming here that you are talking about a GM drive shaft. In my street cars I put 1LE driveshafts in them. I have them rebalanced as well. They don't have the heavy trans Yoke with the balancer on them which makes them easy to spot in a salvage yard if you are looking. Can find them on Ebay too but usually priced like Gold there. . On both my racecars I put aftermarket shafts in them.

The 1LE driveshaft is aluminum, which dampens out those vibrations. It was a service fix for awhile. Watch out though, if you drop the clutch with high traction tires, it may twist up like a pretzel !

I think the 4L60, and the manual trans, uses the same driveshaft.

I bracket raced a stock 2000 SS Convertible, with a manual transmission, for the last 3 years and did not have any vibration issues. even when going to through the lights, at the top end of the track, just shy of the built in rev limiter, in third gear.

The factory driveshaft is aluminum in my car.
