This would be too cool!
I like the new factory cars and I loved the early years of Pro Stock. Could we be looking at it's return? http://www.dragracingonline.com/agen...xvi_12-17.html

would be cool, but I would hate to see Pro Stock gone,it has slowly over the last 40 years changed to nothing near what it started as.I don't watch much of NHRA on tv but I know it can't help pro stock with the coverage they give them.

Makes perfect sense. That might be the only thing against it...I KNOW the crowd would like it better...

Basically surrendering one it's Pro classes must be a bitter pill to swallow. The rest of the Pro classes aren't exactly robust.

One approved motor per factory brand. Of course no handicapped start. Top Fuel/Funny Car payouts or higher........32 car qualifying......I can see this......make IT the focus. Keep the now new stock and super stock FS classes for the sportsman who can not/will not play the go fast under any cost game. Different people on TV, factory cars people can relate to, could vault the NHRA to relevance for a TV contract........could be a total restart...... Those would be the thoughts of mine, based on my 24 years of unique real world experience with a MBA from a top school along the way..........if I was sitting on NHRA's board. Eric

Be great to see these cars take center stage, give some guys in our ranks a chance at the big time. At least prostockers would have a production look. Not the resemblance of a football.

Re: This would be too cool!
I posted this in April of last year. If the Factory cars would've supported the Auto Meter Northern Class Nationals better, we'd likely already have a platform for them. Low support, no shootout. Too bad, would've been very cool. If they show up this year, maybe we can do something for them in 2016. We still have Lucas Oil Class Eliminations for all classes, and will be using NHRA's new Factory classes.

Re: This would be too cool!
I don't understand why anybody thinks people would watch them. The stands empty when Pro Stock comes up. Why do you think they would watch people they never heard of, that run even slower? Sit in the stands, listen to them talk. Hardly anybody up there knows anything they are there for the noise and big MPH numbers. Before I got hooked on this crap again, Mike Edwards left tickets at the Will Call window for me. I hung around, got in his way, and watched the races. I asked people why they were leaving after the fuel cars. Always got the same answers: "These cars are too slow. No fun to watch something run 100 mph slower." These cars would be even slower.

I think people would love to see Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers running head to head with the wheels up. The current pro stocks are non-descript jelly beans. While we're at it, let's bring back dry hops and starting line burn downs!

Re: This would be too cool!
I'm afraid you are giving too much of the crowd in the stands too much credit.
