Default Head option 318-2v

What cylinder head works best with this combo 318-2V 4spd Dart? Can't find original head #'s but these are listed as alternates- 973,302,308,576.

I'm surprised the 302 head isn't listed.

What year Dart is this? The 318 head from 1968-1971/2/? was the 675 casting, open chamber. The 308 is legal for some years, but they came with the 1.88/1.60 valves. I don't think the 675 had the volumes listed in the guide. I guess NHRA figured no one would want to use that head.

It doesn't look like the early 318 heads are legal for your 1975 318 combo. The 308 and 576 heads will have more port volume since they are 360 heads. Both are supposed to have a better exhaust port with an improved short side radius.

I think you get a slightly bigger BBD 1-1/4" (so called High Top) with the AFB jets.

I was talking with Tim Ames at Ennis this weekend. He said he had Van Lant do his 340 and picked up about four tenths over his build. And it hasn't broke. Sounds like a good way to go for the money he spent.
