12 Bolt 40 spline spool
I can not find anybody who makes these spools. I have one in my possession now and am considering making them if I can draw enough interest. Chime in if you have input about this topic.

Re: 12 Bolt 40 spline spool
I don't think it would sell that well, in order to use the 40 spline spool, you need at least 3.250 bore housing. those are only available in a new aftermarket housings. the stock housings are 3.062 bore, . secondly the 40 spline I.d. on a 3.250 o.d. on the bearing is marginal for strength , thirdly if a 35 spline axle isn't enough for your application, you should be looking at a dana 60 or 9'' in my opinion.

Re: 12 Bolt 40 spline spool
Agree with Mark about a limited application. At the performance level of needing a 40 spline axle, the 12 bolt gear set is beyond the design limits.

Strange no longer makes it. Like I said I have one now and the application that you talked about is what I plan to use it for.

Re: 12 Bolt 40 spline spool
There are bearings, that will fit a stock, 12 bolt housing bore. These bearings fit this 40 spline spool, plus the Strange & Mark Williams aluminum 35 spline spools. These are very expensive, aircraft landing gear bearings, but you do not have bore the housing, to use these spools. Google my name to find my contact information.

Re: 12 Bolt 40 spline spool
Mike, I think it would sell in a complete package. the A-D stockers or super stockers.
Spool Axles Housing Bearings and maybe choice of brakes. Complete or pieces ...just thinking...Good Luck Luke |

Re: 12 Bolt 40 spline spool

Re: 12 Bolt 40 spline spool
Mike,
It will work. There are 2 different Strange 12 bolt drop out carriers that fit the ford 9 inch housings. One uses the larger ford type bearing, the other uses the small 12 bolt type. I have the aircraft bearings that fit your 40 spline spool, into the small bearing strange drop out, or a stock 12 bolt housing. We are running both types with Mark Williams spools & axles in my son's, Ecotec powered, Opel GT. Eddie Rezac 402 443 8424 |
