Default For NHRA's Perusal:

Now that we know that NHRA monitors our little forum here , perhaps they might have missed this thread in the Class Builds section:

http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=59374

A few of us actually did submit a proposal to this effect a couple of years ago.
Maybe, by pointing this out here, we can get a reply now.

I believe Dwight has the actual proposal , in case the original got lost in the paper work out there.

I remember a thread about this a while back. I agreed then and I agree now!

300 ford (that I asked for a reduction and was denied) is 190, X .8 and it's 153, pretty close to the old rating of 155!

400 ford at 260 x .8 is 208hp,
351 at 230 x .8 is 184hp
302 2bbl at 168 x .8 is 134hp (like it is now, hmmm)

I think this would be an excellent way of encouraging new (or different) cars.

I guess you're right, Billy.
It's a whole new world here. Most folks would rather sit in front of a computer with a mouse in one hand and a credit card in another. That's probably part of the allure of the Crate Motor deal.
God forbid, someone might have to visit a vintage car boneyard or the swap meets, to scrounge for parts.
Anyone who was down in our neighborhood Saturday night would have seen that Junior Stock still lives, and that you don't need a hundred grand car to have fun and win some money in S/SS.

That's half the fun of it, along with the draw of having a combination that you don't see much any more. Building a mid 60's car surely isn't an investment, but more the love of that era.

About 2 years ago ( or it might have been last year) a certain racing rep. for one of the big 3 automakers tried to get hp reductions on some combos.

He was trying for a 20 % or so reduction on combos that are rarely used. ( mostly OBD II combos already in the classification guide )

Anyways, he went to Calif. to talk to NHRA about it but did not have any luck.
