We can run in NMCA Open Comp Class. Its a .500 pro tree, which honestly, I think would be fabulous, and would kill to have in NHRA SS.

I looked into it a few years ago, but never wound up going to an event. The class has whats called a ".100 breakout"... As I gather, you run time trials, then you have no choice but to "dial" .1 quicker than your fastest time trial for the remainder of the event. Would not seem to be a problem to figure out exactly how to run the TT to have the dial be pretty close.. Anyone who knows better, please correct me if Im wrong, I dont contend to know for sure....

From what I've been told, the racers are treated like royalty at these races.

I do not remember NMCA running any Stock/SS combo races. NSS does limit the bodies that can race but NMC class is more wide open. Both classes are footbrake only, no electronics, can not even have a 2 step except on a stick car. These guys do treat you great and run a very organized race. Maybe a stock/SS combo could be in the future.

Thanks
Actually I wasn't sure if they actually ran S/SS somewhere, or we just talked about it here.
Pretty sure that the typical response from NHRA class racers, was..very little interest.

In 2006 when the NMCA was the NSCA Nitro Joe put on a S/SS race at National Trails at the NSCA event there. I remember it well because it was the first time I had my car out after switching to a stick.

The NMRA had a combo race at Maple Grove this year.

Too bad it was the same weekend as a local Divisional race...

I ran Open Comp last year at the NMRA World Finals with my T-Bird Stocker.

Most racers add 100 lbs. during qualifying to slow their machine down .1 sec.
Not a fan of the pro tree used in OC.
It's basically a catch all class for those that do not fit any other classes ( other than brackets)

Most stock cars are old enough and fast enough to help put on a good show in NSS. I just can't understand why we cant play, at least we have mostly real parts.

What the hay, it their ball, bat, and glove.

I heard a long time ago only select older body styles with multiple carbs were wanted in NSS because they were afraid if it was opened up there would be too many Camaros, Novas, etc show up.

Hey Jason.

Let me get this straight..NMCA is afraid of an increased car count by including the likes of Camaro's, Darts, Mustangs, etc.?
Seems rather counter productive to me and all the more reason we all should flood them with suggested rule changes for the 17 season before the Nov 2 deadline!

After all we're not looking to add an eliminator but just want inclusion to an existing one. Seems like a no brainer to me?

Question Re: Stock/Super Stock At NMCA

Am I missing something? I checked out the rules in Nostalgia Muscle Car (NMC) and aside from a few odds & ends, it looks like any NHRA/IHRA Stocker, with a body 1985 or older, would fit. (Full tree with preset indexes: 11.5, 12.0, etc.) Nostalgia Super Stock (NSS) might be a bit different, but I didn't read their rules.

This is the link, but I can't get it to load at the moment

http://www.nmcadigital.com/dl/rules/nmc.pdf

Some exceptions -
* No 2-steps, except stick.
* No crank triggers.
* No driveshaft sensors.
* No wheelie bars.
