Bobby are you going to make billet ones? Are you making any extra? Knock on wood that is the part I haven't broke in the trans yet. Been a rough year on my Jericos. I broke the face plated dogs in both of my trans this year. Which took out nearly every gear in the trans. Then Jerico tells me oh buy the way you should put a shifter stop on them and you won't have that problem anymore.

I have the part to three different machinists who are taking very long to get back to me. Now my original who does most of my work who said he would do it but would take him a while, I am going back to him. I think he told me 4340 steel was the way to go. I have been running shifter stops this whole time and it hasn't fixed my problem. I am going to have spares made for emergencies so contact me if you want me to make extras.

Has anyone tried to get a billet shift lever for a toploader trans? Years ago Libertys used to make billet shift levers for the toploader trans and unless Jerico has changed the design, that toploader forks and shift levers would work. Years ago, Jerry used to build a Toploader cased Jerico before the Stock Guys could use an Aluminum or Mag cased Jerico. I pushed the Cluster shaft into my early narrow toothed Jerico and sent the case to Jerico to get a steel bushing installed , in the meantime I purchased a cast iron Toploader case from Jerico, to use, while they had my other case. I split the first cast iron case and modified a toploader case by reaming out the cluster shaft hole and adding the extra detent at the back of the case. The cast iron case also needed a spacer between the throwout bearing collar and the case. I ran the modified toploader cases for 3 or 4 years while I waited to get my original case back. The original toploader shift levers had an o-ring groove that was the weak point. Before billet shift levers were available, the o-ring groove was welded up and ground smooth. All the internals of the narrow tooth Jerico fit into the modified toploader case so there is a good chance someone may make a billet shift lever for a toploader that will work.

I finally found a machinist to make these out of Billet steel with a proper heat treat.

I just ran across this post. I have broken 3 shift fingers
in the past year, all 3-4.

If someone is making better quality pieces I would like to get a name/address/phone number.

Thanks in advance,
Gerry

Why is it that Jerico cannot make parts for they're transmissions anymore?
I'm seeing quite a few Jerico's for sale?
Whats UP?
What happened to the Quality?
Craftsmanship?
Material?

I have broken the 3-4 finger twice now this year,i believe the first one was original, the second one lasted 6 passes.I have had a DR4 for 5 seasons, always use the clutch, also has a LONG verticle shifter no stops. The first one was a clean break, looked like it was sheared off clean and straight, the second is fractured, very jagged! I talked to Jerico last Wednesday[July 16 2014],their responce was they had no idea of an issue as nobody has reported an issue?!!! I have read through all four pages and it looks like they will break with or without clutch use and with or without shifter stops.Has anyone come up with a reason or a solution? I just drove to a N/SS race 1500 miles away only to break Sunday morning,SUCKS!! ROY.

I am sorry to hear this Roy, I and many others share your frustration. I have had them break in the middle of money rounds where my opponent was broken and we both had to limp to the stripe (he won)!

But the good news is I finally found a machinist to make these for us out of 4150 chrome moly billet and I just got two of them yesterday to test for fit. They are mighty pretty pieces.. Will keep everyone updated.
