Re: Paul dilcher-on the road again!
I remember Paul, Neil Smedley and even Barry Raichlin, from my start into racing in the late 60's. These guys were so knowledgable about what cars for which class it was crazy. I used to go over to Neil and Marilyn's with my buddy Jerry Atanasio back then and he had some exotic stuff back then. I used to watch Paul wash his blocks out with Dove Dish soap at Chuck Geoli's Station in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
Still see Paul on occasion when he comes up to Lancaster(DTRP) . Talked to Neil a few years ago in Phoenix. Loved it when he won in Vegas, On the cover of National Dragster "Smedley is Deadly" Can't get any better than that. |

Re: Paul dilcher-on the road again!
Something that alot of people don't know is that when we were Indy with a spun bearings, we took our car back to Dayton to try to get it together again.
We were frantically trying to find a new crank, and get other work done, and I had to run back up to Akron (nearly a three hour drive each way) to get some parts from my shop. Keith was working on the teardown, getting the rods reworked, etc. So we found a crank at Gary Stanton's in Kentucky, about 4 or more hours from Dayton and we had no way to get it. I was still on my way back from Akron, and Keith was still turning wrenches. Keith talked to Paul Dilcher who was on the road to Indy. So, Paul went out of his way, picked up the crank, and delivered it to Keith's shop. And we got it all back together and back to Indy. Paul is indeed a good friend, and a rare individual.
