Re: Original hemi dart information
OK,
Paulie comes through again, with another find of a lost LO23. Tom Spanbauer of Oshkosh, Wisconsin 'Liberty Bell II' Tom was already running his SS/B car by mid-April 1968. Great article, discussing handling issues. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 12-17-2014 at 10:52 AM. |

Re: Original hemi dart information
LO23 297865 is also for sale. It's in Arizona and is street legal now. This is the Checker car and also known as the Spyder car. It's also time for a new caretaker.

745,555 views class racer record for sure. Amazing the interest in these little old cars with a bad attitude.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Nice find Paul. too bad there's no car ID numbers attached to that deposit slip. I quess at the time of purchase Feb11/68, there was no specific car assigned to this sale. First run of cars had a manufacturing date of Feb. 18/68

Re: Original hemi dart information
Daryl,
Lawrence 'Larry' Wilber Toledo, Ohio According to extensive digging. It looked like Jim Thorton {Manager of Race Vehicle Design} and member of the Ramchargers helped buddy Larry Wilber secure an early-deal on his LO23. I believe that Jim Thorton was from Perrysburg, Ohio. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 12-22-2014 at 07:53 PM. |
