Default BBC Heads 820 vs 292

Has anyone tested these two castings back to back, or the 241? Whether it be on flow bench or dyno. We want to do a new set for my dad's car as his seats are beat pretty bad but before I hunt for castings it would be nice to know if one is better than the other to start with. Thanks.

292 is a small block casting.

292 is also a 71/72 big block casting. 820's seem to be the most common here north of the border, and what we are running now. Hard to find any good info on them, most places I have found online talking about them just praise how good they all can be with big valves and hours of porting, nothing about as cast.

You might contact Jimmy Bridges next week. Jimmy has a fair amount of experience with the big block heads.

If you flow tested 5 820 heads and 5 292/241 heads the 820 casting would have a better average. The 820 head also seems to respond better to modifications. The sort turn on the 820 exhaust is also raised more than the 292/241.
