Re: Trans shield and flex plate shield
That's a good question, which is answered in the 2017 rulebook under General Regulations 2:14 . Which basically says if the car goes faster than 10.99 it needs a shield , and if faster than 9.99 it needs a flexplate and a flexplate shield , unless it is noted under the class requirements .

Re: Trans shield and flex plate shield
It's kind of a tough read, but it looks like 10.99 and quicker.

Re: Trans shield and flex plate shield
That's the reason I asked, why does NHRA have to make it so hard to understand their rules, simple wording would suffice.

Re: Trans shield and flex plate shield
Back in the mid 60s I saw a guy in a 442 trash his foot real good doing what is now a transbrake start. Rev in neutral and punch the LOW button. I have an SFI bellhousing, flexplate and trans shield no matter what the rules require. I like my feet where they are...

Re: Trans shield and flex plate shield
A transmission and flexplate shield are not noted as Class Requirements in Stock Eliminator with an automatic transmission.
But it would be silly not to use them!
