Dutch classic
I was looking at the schedule for the dutch this year since I love this race. I happen to notice alot of the eliminations are on sat now. I really enjoyed going on sunday and watching the classes till the end. Wow how many more classes are they going to add untill it is more of a sportsnationals? Nothing against the index guys, but come on.

Re: Dutch classic
Its a fabulous race contested in a challenging time of year. There have been plenty of years where this race has been enjoyed in beyond amazing weather. Maple Grove in the fall when the skies are clear, is nothing short of spectacular. Feel free not to attend if you are worried about snow. To each his own.
Regarding the OP comments I'd have to agree I'm not a fan of the TD, TS, and of course the index categories. But look on the bright side, at least there are not four different classes of Harley's running like at some of the divisionals... Talk about gouging your eyes out with a rusty nail...... |

Re: Dutch classic
Wasn't refering to the potential for bad weather...just a category I don't entirely agree
with! The race has grown over the years so that they HAVE to start elims on Saturday... Don't forget the Hemi race that day! On weather, you don't know what to expect....I've been to Dutch's with temps nudging 80 and calm....on the other hand...there was one with barely 40 degree temps and a nice 10-15 mph breeze! Think I've lucked out with rain.... Why not come out and support the race...before packing it in for Winter..... |

Re: Dutch classic
Back when I raced, the Dutch was always one of my favorite races of the year. Fast air (most times), lots of cars, Class Eliminations and just an awesome next-to-the-last race of the year. Weather, as stated, can yo-yo from year to year. I, too, have been there when it was cold, and warm. 2002, it rained out, it was rescheduled on top of the Hagerstown MD S/SS race weekend. We went to the make-up on Saturday and raced before going to Maryland; it never got above 46* at the Grove. Other years have been chilly; other years 80* or more (we knew when we woke up and could comfortably wear shorts it wasn't 'good' record-setting weather). It has rained more often than not every year seemingly since 2004 ('06 was the last year I went). The Finish Line Bar and Grill across the street from the one entrance was always a popular destination when rained out for the day. When I raced, my three favorite races were always late in the year (Indy, the Dutch, and the Mason-Dixon S/SS Fall Classic in Hagerstown) so I almost had to half-wish the summer away to get to the races I enjoyed...lol.
With good weather, I think you all will enjoy 'The Dutch'.

Re: Dutch classic
I love that race even though we sat in the rain for 3 days last year. Gonna' miss this year as baby girl getting married here at the house. Plus I grenaded my shootout motor at Indy. Maybe next year. Have fun and be safe. Phish
