Sorry, but I don't see where they sell the product to customers...only the service.

Do you know if any of those products are comparable to say DFL-1 ? Hard to understand why it is so difficult to locate a source...top secret aerospace technology??? I have located one supposed source, http://www.techlinecoatings.com/hi-p...-coatings.html but they only sell to a business for some reason.

Get a hold of Tom Russell (Gary's son) in E. Sparta, Ohio. He's done several sets for me. Sorry, I don't have a phone no. handy.

According to the faq page in the link posted by SSDIV6, the DFL-! and another product are Shop Only due to the solvent used. Probably an EPA or Homeland Security thing.

The home products seem to be either dry or water soluble.

PS: I'm just a helpful amateur here.

Leonard at Techline is careful about who he sells to, and as mentioned by others, the EPA, etc, have really hammered the coating industry with regulations.

Further, the preparation for application is extremely critical, as is the application itself. The damage done when it is not done perfectly is horrific.

Alan is correct. That's the reason many times is better to save your pennies and send your parts to be coated by a professional.

Surface preparation is essential and you need to know how to prepare the specific surface. As an example, you cannot prep a Titanium valve the same way you do a Stainless Steel valve.

You also need to select the proper coating and curing process. There are specific materials, especially pistons, that its properties will be affected if you do not use the appropriate temperature and curing process.

My preferred companies are Swain, Calico and Polydyn.
