Although the 5.0 Mustang first had multiport EFI in 86, 5.0 Mustangs with automatics came with a throttle body EFI called Central Fuel Injection in 84 and 85, while the 82 thru 85 5.0 Mustangs with carbs were stick only. 82s were 2 barrel, 83-85s had a Holley/Motorcraft 4 barrel. In 1979, you could get a Mustang with a regular 302 2 barrel, with either an automatic or stick. No 302s in 80 or 81, the only V8 was an oddball 255. By the way, the 79-86 Mercury Capri was a "sister" car, and used the same powertrains, albeit with no SVO equivilent.

interesting info, I have an 85 I have been wanting to do something with. I would only need to make a few changes to its current setup.

One question as I did not see it in the rule book anywhere. Do the pedals need to be stock as well? I have an aftermarket throttle pedal (mounts to the roll bar under the dash).
