Default John Bruzzo

I was surprised and concerned to hear that John had a top end incident at the Dutch. In lieu of everybody calling his house, it would be good to hear he is doing ok.

I talked to Donna today. He was still at the hospital. No major injuries that they know of just some neck and back pain. He got out of the car on his own also. Looked really good that he will be headed for home today. Was told he doesn't remember much just the car got away from him and smacked the wall. He said he tapped the breaks but a witness said the car got loose after the finish line. Dew on the surface? I wasn't there but i heard it was only 40 degrees at 7 30 pm. Any comments on what you saw or heard?

Vic, track temp was much higher than 40, but it was cooling rapidly. ....... I saw the crash from my pit spot ,altho I could not see if the car was loose, the engine rpm went sky hi, just before I saw the body panels go flying. The u joints were ripped out of the driveshaft, and the tech guys said the shifter was in lo gear when they got there. .......That could have happened after the crash, but it seems likely due to the sound of the car just before the crash. {I speak from experience on that one!}........ Fortunatly, John was in a well built car ,given the severety of the crash the damage appeared to be reparable.......Tom

Thats what it sounded like. ...Only John will know for sure.. ..I caught my shifter by accident earlier this year at half track, and I recognized that sound immediately. ... Tom

I just spoke to John a couple of minutes ago what he has found out after looking at the car is that they found the anti-roll bar on the race track after the finish line ,he found a huge dent inside the right rear rim, the caliper & bracket bent backwards which probably explaines why the car mabe such a hard right turn into the wall. The trans cable pulled back is why the car was in low gear . John was released to go back to work on Thursday just bruised & sore but doing Ok.Anyone who knows John Bruzzo knows he is a dialer not a brake stabber! He thanks everyone who has called & showed so much concern thru this ordeal !

Thats what probably blew out the u-joints on the driveshaft ...Didn't Chris have something similar happen to him in a borrowed car the other year at the starting line?........Tom
