Dave Marvosh and Bill Vaughn 1973 Catalina Stock Eliminator
Looking for any pics of this 2 barrel, 4 door that raced stock eliminator and V/SA from 73-74?
At Tri-City Dragway they had a powder puff eliminator during the weekly shows and one of their fellow racers (Terry Clark) wife Donna drove the car when they were home. She won almost every week. Last edited by 1971t37; 04-15-2017 at 02:07 PM. |

No 2-barrel 455 available in '73.
400 2-barrel would have put it in a higher class. Looks to me like it would have had to be running a 350 2-barrel, in order to make a class that low. http://www.classracerinfo.com/Engine...px?ENGINE=2073 This may have been a one-of Stocker. Certainly the only one I've come across. Anybody know if the car was a nat record holder ? There are words over the door, which I can't read. Indy class winner more than one year ? I do have 3 more pics that weren't posted, of the "Tijuana Taxi". Last edited by oldskool; 09-12-2021 at 05:02 PM. |

Don Himes had a Lemans wagon with the same drivetrain. It ran under the record, as a street car, which they all were supposed to be back then.
The original factor put them in a 22 lb. class, where V8's were allowed at the time Now they are topped out in U/SA, and i doubt they would run very far under. BTW, those cars had to use a 400 Turbo at that time.
