I have looked at the elements that bolt in a core plug hole but I do not like the fit. What other options are available?

I "think" I want a heater that will install inline the lower hose.

Not required, but if you insist to use one, put the heater on the oil pan and not the cooling system and only use it at the start of the day. It takes longer for oil to heat up than water.

I have looked at those. Do you have a brand and size, and wattage suggestion? How long does it take to achieve 130 degrees or so?

I bought one from NAPA around 16yrs. ago that goes in the lower hose of my '67 FireBird. I think it is made by Everhot. I cover the front of the radiator with a big towel to help keep the heat in. It takes a while to heat up the engine as I have a big BeeCool Radiator. I'll go look tomorrow for the wattage.

These are the folks who make the "Zerostart" heater systems, both tank and silicone-pad style (like the Moroso unit). Hopefully some helpful information for you on wattage and capabilities.

I've got 3 of the magnetic heaters usually for winter use that I usually use. (Theres always people driving all over the pits "warming up", it made me think that's a lot of expensive gas not accomplishing much. I've also been told that I squeak when I walk

). One 300 watt & two of the 200 watt units. I put 2 on the engine oil pan and the last one on the rear end housing. I just use 1 back there because I use Redline Super lite shockproof. Of course I can't use this on the Escort. I know theres the glue on blanket style but I've heard the adhesive isn't very good. Would be interested to hear other's experiences there.

I could not get to the front of the car as the snowblower and other stuff is in the way.Both NAPA and Tractor Supply have engine and oil pan heaters made by Katz and work great..The engine heater from T.S. is directional, does a good job for old style '99 Suburban.

I had the Moroso stick on on the bottom of the oil pan. Worked well for 10 years - finally quit. Check Google for pan heaters - us Northerners use several types that are available. Also had a freeze plug heater that was optional on my daily driver Jeep. Never had a problem.

I have these Zerostart/Wolverine heaters on the oil pan and transmission pan, can warm things up pretty quickly. Pretty sure this is the size I have on the oil pan, but the transmission one may be slightly larger. The offer a ton of shapes/sizes
