Highly Developed and varied combinations. Great hard working racers. Super expensive form of open racing with dial in. To each his own but probably coming to an end. Amazing how NHRA has allowed many racers to branch out into various directions and classes in an attempt to satisfy many styles of challenge. I am waiting for them to see the value of spec style racing again like Mod eliminator where many challenges of many classes hit heads up. Almost every other style of racing organization has gone to this format with success and popularity.

NHRA has been trying to sell Diversity in Comp with no heads up, class for any car. Not working real well. So that worked so well, now we have 109 classes in Super Stock and I guess they might perceive Diversity will work better in Super Stock. Like Forrest Gump said, "I'm not a smart man." and neither am I. I know there is some difference with Mod cars in SS and Comp, but nobody could ever explain it to me.

Are the hood scoop cars running Super Stock fast enough for Comp? I always figured most were running Super Stock because they weren't really fast enough for Comp. Comp is getting very expensive.

Jeff, maybe you can help me understand why so many people don't want to race heads up with the "same" combinations. I know finding the weak factor WAS the way to look good in class racing at one time but now every day there Is a new weak factor so It makes your head spin trying to figure the real good car to run. Before you can build one a Newer weak factor is there to make you look slow.
Seems giving a Mod or true heads up spec class a chance to be tried could be fun and if it doesn't work out the old dial in eliminator is still there.
Learning a combo and driving to win are two real advantages.

How can you blame a car count on the fuel?

The low car counts might be the cost factor? A small block comp motor is in excess of $80,000 for a good one. Add the car, trans, convertor a couple gear sets and spares and your $300,000. lighter, to start.
