Pros/Cons 9" Tire Hoosier or MT
Stocker guys, I have a small tire 69 camaro with caltracs that we are looking to bracket race. Which 9"tire does everyone recommend? Should you run them tubeless? I have run MTs before just never in a small tire. Thanks for you assistance.

A bias ply will be more "forgiving" if the track isn't in the best shape. But as mentioned above, you can work on the car to make it work better with radials. Radials can also be a bit faster in ET and RT than bias.
The higher pressure will work better with a wider rim to help maintain a flatter footprint. That's why a lot of Stockers use 10" rims with 9" tires. I've run 9" Hoosier radials for a long time with good results.

Agreed. I started with 8" wheels but the footprint is much better with my 10" wheels.

I run a 29.5 M/T radial, tubeless, 10 wide wheel, on my small block 67 Camaro Stocker. They work great and they last if you drive them right. I tried other brands and always went back to M/T (my 50th year of racing). Just my two cents!

Thanks for the input guys. M/T offers a bracket radial. I guess that is a mix of the 2.

Is it safe to assume this car is an automatic and not a stick car? Not to steal the thread but in the past it was always a no to radials on a stick car?

The most cost effective tire would be the 9" Goodyear radial, very little time in water box = less wear. I had a wire break on my line lock and only got to spin tires ( 2nd gear only ) and stage. Result 1.33 in 60', 10.17 @ 129.55. You can watch car leave on D3TV Friday Sportsnationals around 1:09 mark of the replay. And with me being 300 lbs the car is not 50/50.

With good traction, 9inch Hoosier radials were worth a tenth. In my case, with poor track prep led to a short spin then hook, causing 9teeth on the ring to break, inturn broke the trans as well. Expensive learning.
