Weather has changed significantly right before first round started. Wind changed from cross tail to a very strong head to cross head. Temperatures dropped about 12 degrees very quickly. The following are heading to round 2:
-BJ Bianchi Vs. Brent Darroch
-Randy Eakins Vs. Jimmie Hutto
-Kevin Locklear Vs. Kevin Riner
-Ed Longhany Jr. Vs. Me

I kinda understand why they qualify on reaction time because they are trying to eliminate playing the ladder. I guess this way it would be difficult for say buddies or say someone in the same division to try and stack the ladder but no heads up? Don't understand that one.

The call for no heads up, and qualify on reaction time is due to the championship - earn your invite only - format.
This keeps someone from borrowing or buying a fast car, and especially trying to headhunt someone else, with a borrowed car for ONE race. This was a problem a few years ago.
Keeps the championship on the driver ability...
Know stock and SS usually have heads up and it is a key part of it, but I understand why they do this also.

Kind of like letting FS cars qualify with no worry of HP???

Congrats to all there. Good luck and enjoy the race!

I was at one of their div races in Texas a few years ago when they announced "no heads ups". I decided I was through with them that day.

The reason is as Ken said. It's not new, been this way since 2009.

What Ken said. ^ It just creates problems for the TOC format.

Track drying has been under way for almost two hours. It is cloudy and cool, but it has not been raining. I would think we should be starting within the next hour.

Ed they run heads up races at normal points meets just not the TOC?

Also, drivers got upset one year at Memphis I believe in 2012 when they had to draw cards for pairing for some reason(rain out or something) and Ihra said it would have heads up and the drivers threw a fit about it.

Can't please everyone.
