I recently bought a Torin aluminum 1.5 ton jack from Northern Tool. So far, so good. Light and easy to handle and is pretty low to get under the front end. I would like it to have more lift height, but other than that it is a lot easier to use than my old 3 ton steel monster that leaked down too much. Northern has a pretty good selection of jacks of all sizes shapes and colors. www. northerntool.com

Harbor Freight has about 4 different versions of a aluminum light
weight "racing" floor jack. Most weight in at 45lbs or less.

From other guys I have talked with, they recommend buying the
most expensive of the 4 versions at about $150 before any
discounts or sales.

My normal cast iron "costco" floor jack weights closer to 100 lbs
so I am also planning on buying a light weight unit for taking to the
races.

FYI: There was a discussion here about a year ago on this subject. The concensus was the 1.5 aluminum Craftsman was not a good buy but the 2 ton Craftsman was a good jack for the money.
