Re: GM Releases 2013 bogus HP ratings at PRI show
The 352 is 11.25 CR and I was wrong on the 428 in '10. It was factored at 375 and now the 427 is 425 hp for a 50 hp hit from the factory.

They are at a factory 8.62 weight break (natural "B" car) at 350hp with a shipping weight of 3017. The addition of 5hp makes them a natural A car. Its going to get hit 5hp sooner or later, that's a given. From what I see this year they are middle of the pack in "C" at best. But say somebody runs 1.2 under with one and now its an "A" car. There is no way that car is competitive in A against the 427- 428CJ's, V10 - 6.1DP's and now the COPO's. Not to mention all the other good "real" stockers out there. So that pretty much paints you into a corner and running the car only in "B" to stay away from the combos I just mentioned. Another way of looking at them is to compare them to their little brother the 4.6 or 281 CJ that was factory rated at 235hp. You add 21 cubes to the 4.6 for a grand total of 115 hp. LOL Come on now I know the 5.0 are supposed to be at another level but 115 hp worth? That's 977# (115hp x 8.5) they can't be that much better to carry an additional 1,000#. Now I'm looking at the N/A version only as I don't have any interest in running the SC combo. But it looks like Holbrock has that combo figured out. I could be wrong maybe these things are going to be competitive I just don't see it. In my opinion this is the least attractive CJ to date. But if you think they are that good I wont stop you from building one LOL just to prove me wrong.

Re: GM Releases 2013 bogus HP ratings at PRI show
Well...it sure doesn't take much to make a street Boss 302 run in the 10's and it takes a whole lotta stuff to make a N/A 281 run in the 10's so there must be a bunch more than 21 CID to accomplish that! And the CJ302 is a bunch better than a Boss 302. So yes, I think a CJ302 N/A engine could carry more than it's weight in A/S - A/SA! You don't think Jesse would send out a turd do you?

V-10's and 6.1's can not run A/SA

Re: GM Releases 2013 bogus HP ratings at PRI show
Well the 2010 370/385/399 manual combo is factory rated at a 8.02 weight break and now with it at 399 hp its a 7.73 weight break which makes it a natural CC car so it could add weight and run A.
The 2010 392/375hp manual combo has a weight break of 8.53 for a natural B car. And then the 2011 512/450hp manual combo is factored at 7.50 for a natural CC car which can add weight to run A. I don't know how to drive an automatic so I'm looking at the stick combos since I would have built a stick CJ. To me it looks like they all could run A and the 392 can run A, B and C.

It's easy. Just keep one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on your iPhone so you can check the NHRA app or 1320.go for your reaction time. Makes driving the stripe a little easier.

Re: GM Releases 2013 bogus HP ratings at PRI show
Guess you wouldn't want to build an actual off-the-street 5.0L. Just saw a Ford spot on TV last night, talking about the new Mustang. (I love them btw) And they said it was 420 HP? :-)
Wonder why NHRA accepted a lower number for the crate engine? LOL Kyle, don't be telling that! :-)

Re: GM Releases 2013 bogus HP ratings at PRI show
Ed that's the funny part. The street cars aren't even in the guide. Not that I would build one at 420. But the ones that actually come off the showroom floor with a VIN you can't race LOL.
Thanks for the heads up on that Kyle. I'll have to figure out how to do that between gears.
