Dyno, Fascat went by the track over a month ago and said it was in bad shape. He spoke with someone, I don't think it was Pat, and they told him then they race was off. As for running the track at all, not sure.

We will be testing Phish at NPR the weekend after Thanksgiving and Jeremy will be getting his license in the RMRE tribute car. D4 still has a points meet on the new schedule as always. I am going to miss the SportsNats there for sure. I am up for a Chootout at BG. A little bird told me a prostock racer will be running a hemi car next year. Maybe we can find a sponsor. I have never "Bend" there. SCW

Having a Sportsnationals at Bowling Green- - - Great idea

Same weekend as Maple Grove LODRS - - -- no so Great

Sports at No Problem will definitely be missed. It is something like 1500-1600 miles for me and I am glad I went 2 times. We owe it to Pat who made it what it was,,,a must attend event.

Looks like your guess is correct Jeff.

Looks like my tradition of trying to set National records on Memeorial day weekend is over.

Copy n paste from their site:

" The JEGS SPORTSnationals, the premier standalone event in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, will continue to be a national event with national points being awarded for all classes except Super Street, which will earn divisional championship points. New in 2016, all racers will receive an NHRA national event grade point for attending the race."

When I saw the dates I thought the exact same thing!

Dave, Bowling Green has hosted a sports national event on that weekend for about 40 years. A Memorial Day Sports National event at Bowling Green is a venerable tradition that we've held dear for about as long as I have been involved in racing, the first Sports Nationals was held there. For 2016, we are very fortunate that Dallas and Brock at Bowling Green have brought Jeg's to back an event that those of us who call Bowling Green our home track have loved for a long time.

95% of D1 guys don't travel outside D1 because the air is to bad. So I see this only being a issue for 5-10 of you maximum.
Very few D1 guys made the trip to beards race when it was in May and its 300 miles closer then BG for most.

Alan,

Having the Sportsnationals at Bowling Green again, is, as I said a great idea. I am very familiar with the history of the event. I considered Joe Kenney a friend and he won SS 2 years in a row 1979 and 80 at Bowling Green. I doubt that in those years 2 events as important as the Sportsnats. and the Maple Grove pts meet were on the same weekend. The event at BG recently (last 30 or so years) has not been a national event, it has been a national open I believe.

Scheduling is a very tough deal, there are so many more races and track events these days. Bowling Green and D3 has everything to gain here, Maple Grove will lose some cars. Wish it was avoidable.

Charlie, you really believe D1 racers only go to fast tracks ? I have raced at 30 or 40 tracks, currently the track I have on the top of my list to race at is Bristol, how fast is that place ???LOL
