Scheduling is tough, I agree completely. But it seems we have directors and promoters that make it way tougher than it should be.

The Bowling Green event has always been pretty big (we out drew the Atlanta event when the scheduled it against the Bowling Green event) I'm not sure how much it will grow now. I do hate to see it competing against Maple Grove, but the only thing that has changed is what they call the Bowling Green event, it isn't like they moved it on the calendar.

I think there could be a lot more scheduling cooperation, it's really sad that NHRA does not do more to encourage it. Some of the conflicts are just stupid and unnecessary, it's almost as though they were deliberate. There are even some events that seem to be scheduled to discourage people from attending. Bristol is a prime example. It was a great race when it was in the spring. But then they had the problem with the track and postponed it until July, and they've been running it in June ever since. The air sucks, and the conditions are miserable. There is no reason not to have it in April or October.

Since they are considering the Bowling Green Sports National a National Event are there grade point requirements to attend and do you have to do the online entry?

You are not required to preenter, but it does save you a little bit of money if you do.

give it national open rules as far as setting records and it will be a even greater race. This race the only nat. open race even close to me and its 9hrs away. Not everyone can afford to go to ATCO to set a record.

Jeff, you are right.
That would just add one more reason to go. Otherwise it is just a National Bracket race for fast guys. NHRA Should let everyone cut loose.
After all it is "THE Sportsman National" where the sportsman "only" is the show. Make it a FAST show......

Very few D1 guys made the trip to beards race when it was in May and its 300 miles closer then BG for most.
You may want to recount the entries at the Jegs Northern Sportsnationals since it began. There have been a lot more D1 racers than 5-10 each year! And to say D1 racers don't travel because of the bad air isn't very accurate.

There's a handful of Div. 1 numbers that show up, but the vast majority of them are from the Pittsburgh area / western PA.

But you're right that it's not about the air. They don't travel west because they don't care to.

Bryan why is it everytime I go to reading I pick up .10-.15 over any D3 track and all I hear is D1 guys crying about how slow it is here. Most D1 racers stay in the D1 bubble. There are a select 20 of you that will travel over 400 miles to race but not to many. And Dan doesn't count He's a world traveling professional.

^^ I agree.

If NHRA would make this like a National Open ( able to set 1/8th and 1/4 records) and no AHFS then that would really make it the ultimate Sportsnationals.
