The design of a radial tire produces less rolling resistance, thus less effort to roll it. That's why radial tires are the standard in the auto industry - better fuel economy (among a host of other things).

Why does it do that..?

One race said because the tie does not grow.
I think it is more about the structure of the tire.
Think it is about less parasitic drag and does not wiggle like a Bias Ply.

Dan
Can you run your bias ply slicks at 24 psi????

Keep your gear ratio in high gear?????

How much heavier are your bias ply tires over a light-weight radial???

These are just a few reasons for running a radial....

Just my 2 cents,
Bob

PS:

If you a racing against a radial tired car heads-up, you are already a tenth behind.

Hmm..run my M/T's at 28 pounds.
Looked at the M/T and Hoosier choices and no 28 inch Radials.
Unless go to DOT's

Dan,

Look at MT Pro Bracket Radial Tire. Running them at 28 Psi. Part Number 3354R. Picked up in the 60ft, and reaction Times. http://www.jegs.com/i/Mickey+Thompso...3354R/10002/-1

How did this turn into a radial tire discussion?
