Re: Let's have a discussion about setting records
You'll have to dig into the NHRA's website to even find sportsman records. I recall there used to be a link off of the main site. Maybe I just missed it... Found the link hidden under the pro records. They could at least put the link back up on the main page at no cost to them. Motor going to dyno and should be back out soon.

Re: Let's have a discussion about setting records
Took me 3 years to set the IHRA record (bad fuel, Hurricane -only 1 run)
but I finally got it done! You can't do it at divisonals - so only a few chances to set one. 1051 (former) NHRA IHRA record holder |

Re: Let's have a discussion about setting records
Of course I would like to be the first AH car in the teens which would be a HUGE record but I live and run where it is hot. I do get great satisfaction that I am 4 & 0 against the cold air racer that has the record and love stirring it up. Maybe he will read this and come to BG to shut me up. Thanks Al Gore for this venue. Formerly Phish

You used to get 5 points for setting a record, which you could earn up to 2x per year. Myron Piatek and I used to bounce records back and forth by a few hundredths to get points. (except the one time we found a bad intake gasket during teardown... I tagged the J/CM 1/4-mile record more than intended, even lifting early! LOL) There were a few championships decided on record points. Eventually they did away with them.

National Opens are the way to go for record setters, but unfortunately for racers at Div. 3 1/4 mi. tracks, that only leaves one per year now

Re: Let's have a discussion about setting records
I'm going to put together a nice presentation and submit it to NHRA. It may be futile but I will try anyway. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks. Ed
