Is ihra going back to old format?
Rumors are IHRA is going back to the old format.Real pros along with sportsmen racing. If true that would be great since when they had that format they were packed. After that many long time racers like myself and my wife defected to NHRA full time.I dont know what they were thinking but what more do you need than a packed house? The exhibition pros are BS my kids wouldnt even go with us racing anymore once the pros left.
It was the talk at INDY that the old format was returning and there seemed to be a lot of excitement over that prospect.Lets hope its more than rumor IHRA was a lot of fun.BILL BADER WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WE NEED YOU?

Mr Cambria, that was also the talk at Darlington pts race and also a national pts system. That would be great if it's true but the nitro jam schedule came out today and it appears myself and a whole lot of division 9 people were snubbed as the closest national event for me would be Budds Creek......some 5 hours away.

Re: Is ihra going back to old format?
They appear to be having more national "style" events - Pros with Sportsman. But I haven't heard anything that would indicate that they would change the current Sportsman points and Tournament Of Champions format with the top 3 from each division qualified for the finals. Races have still been Pro-Am divisionals as far as points go.
Sportsman at these nationals may continue to collect "national event" contingency and the last rounds will be in front of a crowd. But I don't think we'll be running around to nationals chasing "national" points. However, if they do, I will!
