Party Update Dec 5 Houma, LA
Just thought I would update some stuff. The menu; so far, shrimp, fried, bacon wrapped, fettuccine, and really good shrimp dip;great with a beverage. Assorted mini Po Boys all good, Jambalaya, and lots of other stuff, plus desserts, full bar, and I'm not sure what else. Party around 7 or so, but open house all afternoon. I need as many as possible to email me jefft@southlanddodge.com so we have a number, I am estimating about 250. Anyone coming in a little early, let me know. Swamp/Eagle tour, plantations, motor home parking, lodging I suggest using the net, anything on MLK Blvd is new and close to the dealership/race facility (party site). Kevin Helms (Stock), Craig Bourgeois (Comp) and we are having some others invited who live here in Louisiana. We are trying to do name tags and count and handle whatever else we need to do. Any questions, email me. Yall come.

Friday night before the party, we go to the Jolly Inn for a Cajun evening of food, real Cajun music and food. On of the few remaining places in this part of Heaven. Got some Cajun girls gonna teach yall something.

Re: Party Update Dec 5 Houma, LA
What does a Yankee know about good Cajun music??
This song is considered the bible of Cajun music. I grew up about 10 miles away from the guy who wrote/sang that song. It all about a guy who was so embarrassed by the things he does that he has to enter his own house through the back door. Not unlike when someone red lights, then run 1.25 seconds under or when your opponent breaks at the starting line and you run it through and break out by 0.15 seconds. Here are the words to that song. LA PORTE D'EN ARRIERE "The Back Door" 1. (Translation) 1. Me and my girl had gone to the dance, We went to all the Honky-Tonks, We came back the next morning, The day was breaking, I passed in by the back door. 2. That afternoon I was at the village, I got so drunk I couldn't walk, They brought me back to the house, There was company there, some strangers, I passed in by the back door. 3. My old father, one evening when I arrived, He tried to change my way of looking at things, I didn't listen to him, I had too hard a head, "A day will come, my young boy, you'll be sorry, You passed in by the back door." 4. I had a lot of friends when I had money, Now that I don't have any money they don't want to see me anymore, I was in town, I got myself into trouble, The law picked me up, and I was put in jail, I'm gonna' pass in through the back door. |

Re: Party Update Dec 5 Houma, LA
It ain't for everybody, but some of us LOVE Cajun music and food. Although I live in North LA, we still have lots of crawfish boils, and I can buy my smoked Boudin at our local Wal-Mart.
We don't have a lot of live Cajun music up here, except for a few festivals. But, nowadays you can go online and listen to Cajun music, on hundreds of free music videos. So, for you folks who can't make it to Cajun country, you can listen anytime you want. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...usic%20youtube Marc & Ann Savoy are 2 of the big names in Cajun culture and music. Ann wrote a very popular book about it, and Marc is a very good Cajun musician, who builds Cajun accordions. They have a very good Cajun band, called the Savoy Family Band. Ann also got together with some other girls and formed the Magnolia Sisters band. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...+music+youtube https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...rtrain&start=0 http://www.amazon.com/Cajun-Music-Re.../dp/093016900X https://www.facebook.com/Rendez-vous...44345/timeline http://www.lacrawfish.com/Cajun-Meats-Boudin-C20.aspx http://www.chowhound.com/post/cajun-boudin-713832 http://tboysboudin.com/ http://www.boudinlink.com/CrawfishBoudin.html Last edited by oldskool; 11-24-2015 at 02:07 PM. |

The Cajun women did it for me. Don't worry about them being my age - I like them Andy's age - just that they can out run me - LMAO - not really funny - but unfortunately really true .. In Friday night - out Sunday afternoon on Southwest .. just need to skip one race next year -- I am sure this event should take precedence. Your "West Cost Wedge" connection - V10 that is. Re: Party Update Dec 5 Houma, LA
Glad everyone is coming. Need a notice jefft@southlanddodge.com or on CR. I will post the entire menu soon, and Kevin and I (probably me; guy wins the world and can't get him to do nothing except smile) will post a list of some of folks we would like to hear from. Perrone, if you coming, I might have get a New York interpreter, or Jerry Hatch from Maine. Some of you people talk funny. List of obligated invitees coming shortly.
