Re: Woodfin's SS GT/TB construction series
Todd,
I am OK with the front plate situation. The idea is to have the plate fully contact the frame, it is resting on the frame rails with engine at installed height. Tabs secure the plate to frame. For me, it is not an issue to remove the plates to remove the engine. The final install is still under fine tuning. the engine will be lifted out at least one more time to finalize some welding details and paint. Keep an eye on me and continue to post thoughts. I appreciate the feedback from everyone and it gives me a smile that folks are watching the buildup.

I like shinny stuff
The Super 10 is closer to a race truck each day.

The Super 327 is back on the stand for the finishing details. Senders, crank trigger, distributor, and intake.
It will be finished and back in place shortly.

While engine is out for last time we are finish welding/fitting motor plate tabs. You can just see working the crossmember notch.
I hindsight, I jumped the gun with paint work. We have ground and welded a number of painted areas. But it's OK, I have a touchup gun and a paint store just down the street.

Repainting isn't a problem. I have done it at least 5 times with at least one to go.

Larry, if you either post or email me a straight on shot of the truck door I can redo the logo in your sig so that you can use it instead of the mock-up I made. Or maybe an avatar. Your pick.

Dale, will do. Because of where the truck is positioned on the rack it interferes with such a shot. I will have it outside soon and get some good photos.

Re: Woodfin's SS GT/TB construction series
Also, I have set the goal of competing at the D 4 Lucas race September 19 & 20 at Thunder Road Raceway near Shreveport La.
And even more aggressive, I plan to bracket race it July 25th at Texas Motorplex. So, eight weeks from today I plan to be racing it. Some details will not be finished but the sooner I get it on track the sooner it can be fine tuned to a competitive package.

Re: Woodfin's SS GT/TB construction series
Like our Texas weather the Super 10 build up is heating up.
These two shots show the checking springs removed and the big boy PAC springs going back in place. Because of how the T & D rocker bar is laid out only some springs can be changed with the shaft rocker tool. No problem, just remove the bar and use a stud type tool.
