Default 86 Camaro Struts

Working on my 86 Camaro Is there any rule about using the Pro Coil QA-1 struts in SS, SSGT or SSModified?

I would double check but. I think they are legal on a 4th gen. f-body but not on the 3rd. gen cars. doesn't make sense why it's ok on one but not the other. it might just be about where the original location of the spring was.

Adger, you should consider the Santhuff struts.

X2 on the Santuffs. I wasted money on QA1, then AFCO. Had to run both sets as tight as they would go. Had both sets re-valved, still could not slow them enough to stop it from unloading, then bobbing up & down on landing. Now, I have neither problem, and can still tighten these Santuffs both direction. Yet, if needed, they will still go even looser both directions than either of the other shocks . I would never buy anything but Santuffs now.

I wasted so much friggin time trying to get two other brands of front struts right. Finally just threw in the towel and purchased Santhuff's from Reinharts performance. Literally in four passes I had them dialed in and so damm perfect you cant imagine. 5 foot wheelstands out to 90 feet, and the landing is just amazing. Soft landing with zero, I mean ZERO bounce. I cant believe I didn't buy the Santhuffs sooner....

I have Koni on it now, but they are single adjustable. I am pleased with the way they work, but if I put more power in the car I think the adjustment will be marginal. Thanks for the direction.

X3 on the Santhuff's! I have the single adjustable and have since 2002! Wouldn't use any other strut!

Adger -

I have Koni/Lamb single adjustables on the front of my 92 Camaro. Since I got my new motor that makes more power, I had to send my struts back to Randy at FastShocks to have him help me with the extension and rebound. I have a ton more adjustment in them now than I have ever had. Makes tuning the car so much easier.

I have Koni double adjustable on the rear and Randy went through those also to update and freshen.

Good luck!
Michael

Thanks... Good to know I have options.
I have the double adjustable on the rear, too.
They should need little if any changes.
I might put that expense on the back burner.

Like all of the others have said. Spend the money up front and get the Santhuff D/A's. They were the only shock that would control the bounce on my gen 1 Camaro. No matter how high the wheelstand it comes down smooth and does not bounce. No tire rub either. That really helped with consistency. Now if I could just get something to help the driver I would be in good shape.
