Default 305 Canadian block ?

I am curious why people occasionally advertise 305 Canadian block. What is it about these blocks that makes them more desirable ? Thicker casting or ? Thanks.

Tim…I have 1/2 a dozen Western Canadian 305 Blocks that typically might be worth even more because of their Geographical Correctness. Hopefully we find out Why? MB.

From what I'm told is that some Canadian 305 blocks had 4 bolt mains more so much in a heavy duty truck application.

From what I have been told was that the 305 4-bolt main blocks were a special order from Iraq or Iran or something to use in the Chevy Malibu that they imported for taxi use. Came with a 3 speed standard trans and a/c.!!

I have never seen an Irakii Taxi (not trying to be politacally incorrect but that's what they got dubbed with) with a 305. I've only ever seen them with a wee six 3 speed stick and dog dish hubcaps, bench seat and rubber floor. Pretty homely lookin jalopies too I might say.

There were 3 versions of the Iraquabu. ( I sold 114 of them). The base
models were 4 dr. 3 speed manual transmission, these were destined
for the soldiers. The next level were 4 dr. Automatic trans. These were
for the Sargeants. The top levels were the station wagons with
auto. trans. These were for the Generals. There were 9886 of them
on the docks in Halifax, and GM never got paid for them, so they
tried one wave of them on willing Dealers. We sold out in 3 days.
Never saw the cars at that point, took deposits in person or on the
phone with no gaurantee of color choice. The colors were light blue,
a weak gold color, a weaker yellow, and a nice metallic red. All the
ones we got were 305's with A/C. They were 1981's and were sold
in 1982. Prices on wave 1 were 5995, 6195 A.T. 6495 SW AT. On the second wave GM charged us 200.00 more so the prices went up 200.00. J.R.

There use to be an IraqiTaxi here in my hometown. It was a 305ci w/ 3 speed stick as I recall. I have never seen a factory 305 with 4 bolt main, in my nearly 40 years of messing around with Chebbies ? This is an interesting topic as locally we treated 305's like the plague and got rid of them as fast as we could back in the '80's.
