Metric 200 Auto 1-2 shift
Who manufactures/supplies the components required to convert a metric 200 to auto 1-2 shift and how does this work?
Thanks, John |

Re: Metric 200 Auto 1-2 shift
My 200 is shifted hydraulically with a plunger that can be adjusted outside of the pan.
If you want a true e-shift, Turbo Action makes a couple things that will help you get there. The controller https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tac-70600 and the valve body https://www.summitracing.com/parts/tac-27255es

Re: Metric 200 Auto 1-2 shift
Jon,Thanks for the response.
I am aware of the Turbo Action E-shift deal. I am just trying to look at all the options for achieving an accurate 1-2 shift in my stocker. My data logger indicates I'm doing a pretty bad job of hitting the 1-2 with any degree of consistency. The 2-3 shift is not a problem. Can you tell me who did your trans and are you satisfied with the system you have? Once I get some more info, I'll decide which way to go. PM me if you like. Thanks for your help. John |

Re: Metric 200 Auto 1-2 shift
I drove my LT-1 Firebird shifting it myself and with E-Shift after I sold the car and had the opportunity to drive it again two weekends in a row. Shifting 1-2 manually was always a bit of a challenge since the wheel stand could distract me. I highly recommend going to E-Shift. I would not even consider the auto 1-2 myself.....

Re: Metric 200 Auto 1-2 shift
John,
As I understand it, Billy Lynn originally built my transmission. I honestly do not use the auto 1-2, I just click it through. I'm curious why you wouldn't even consider it Rich?

Re: Metric 200 Auto 1-2 shift
Without E-Shift my attention is distracted to shifting either once or twice...
With it I can concentrate on the race as it develops.....and to me that is a plus. If it's legal and it is why not use it... My Firebird could occasionally do a very high wheelie and on at least one run I shifted way early just from that distraction..... Shifting the 2-3 was pretty easy but to me making it automatic is good.... I had a shifter that needed a gate plate change and that made it like driving a 4 speed...... I had 3 moves to make to shift twice.....LOL If I wanted to make racing more about just driving, I'd get a clutch pedal.....LOL
