Re: Live from las vegas
OK, here's the real scoop on this. I spoke with Rick Wolf (no,not that one) an old friend from my SS days.Rick works for Morgan. He said Jones knew he could not qualify with his own motors and Morgan offered him one of his spares. Jones offered to buy it and Morgan said in jest "no, but if we meet in the final don't beat me!". When it was decided they were to run against each other in the final, Jones took the motor out and put his own back in! Morgan said don't do it but Jones said he appreciated the loan of the motor and stated he never would have even qualified without Morgan's help. What an upstanding young man! Morgan is having RJ Race Cars build his cars for next year. See how things get turned around? Thanks NHRA for getting the right "scoop". Jim

Re: Live from las vegas
I have to say I have known for a long time that Morgan is no angel but I just saw the tape of the Vegas race. I recorded it because I hate the TF and FC BS and only watch the Pro Stock stuff. The playback confirms the info I got as far as I am concerned. Morgan and Jones couldn't have been more cordial and friendly at the post-race interview. Jones thanked Morgan for all his help and said it was because of him that he did so well. NHRA will probably spin it to however suits their best interests. Don't hold your breath for a retraction! Re: Live from las vegas
Well, it looks like I owe Larry an apology; I couldn't in my wildest imagination envision a circumstance in which you'd make a deal in which you'd have to relenquish your qualifying motor in a race for the final round, when you'd need it the most.
Nonetheless, stuff like this happens, and I am sincere in my apology to Larry. My original jaw-drop came, however, in seeing two MoPars in the final round of NHRA P/S racing. When might be the last time that happened??? Has to have been a long, long, time ago.... Did anyone else notice; this doesn't happen every day???. But, nobody said a thing... I guess the final round engine swap fiasco pushed the MoPar element to page two.... |

Jim, I also saw the post race interview and it does tell the story you were told.. What griped me the most was all Morgan could talk about was how glad he is he's in a Ford next year and he is getting his Ford equipment this week and all that jazz... Nothing about Mopar at all... I don't know the real story of why he is switching but sure sounds like he isn't giving Mopar any credit at all... IMO...... |
Re: Live from las vegas
You mean FIAT. Good luck you MOPAR guys.

Re: Live from las vegas
Maybe because FORD reported $11 Billion in earnings this quarter and stated they expected positive earnings all through next year. GM & Chrysler, who chose to sleep with the devil on the other hand....
