From the 2012 rulebook in Pro Stock section:

"NHRA-accepted composite body mandatory."

They don't even use real bodies anymore. Nothing about Pro Stock is stock. But then very little about Stock is stock anymore. And it's all in the name of progress.

I really don't care how "stock" they are. It's close racing between normally aspirated door cars. I like Comp too. Nothing "stock" there either. I can't imagine a person interested in engine technology not being interested in Pro Stock.

I gotta tell you, Ed, I'm not a big fan of the homogenized jelly beans that Pro Stocks have become. I prefer it when pro stock bodies were actual cars. (Much like NASCAR has become as well).

Exactly my thoughts as well. This class is incredible. The close races, the precision needed for perfect run everytime and the technology. The cars are a marvel.

I wonder if or when they may allow Fuel Injection and dare I say it, Overhead Cams maybe in 10 years ;)

Unfortunately, using OEM bodies or bodies more similar to OEM will create an even bigger parity issue giving rule makers an even bigger headache.

Still talking about fuel injection. Racing is so close, I don't understand why they would change it.

Racing is very close and as a fan of the class I think the parity is there and don't need to make big changes. Everyone has their new bodies that are lot closer to one another. I hated when the everyone was running the small body cars for the advantage. It killed off the mustangs and the F-body's from being competitive in the class with the huge frontal area in comparison of the cavaliers, etc. Once NHRA and manufactures submitted the redesigned pro-stock bodies things were a lot closer and now we've go mustangs and camaros back.

Has a fan of bringing more current technology and closer relevance to production cars, which hopefully will bring more Manufactures back to racing while providing some trickle down effect to consumer cars. I would like to see some progression. However that is deathly expensive, harder to govern, and could cause some parity issues once again.

On one hand it would detract from some fans that like the close racing, on the other hand it would bring some fans in.
Like NASCAR, I can't get into that in the least. But I could have gotten into it in the earlier days when the manufactures where involved. Competition breeds the best.

Sooooo I'm conflicted lol. I'm a car guy first and foremost.

The drivers voted earlier this year and they don't want fuel injection. A whole lot of money and in the end you end up in the same place. The engine won't make anymore power with fuel injection per WJ. He knows a little bit about a pro stock engine. LOL

Pro Stock and Comp are the only classes I will watch anymore. (other than S/SS of course). I really would like to see bodies that are closer to stock however. It's getting harder to tell what's what. Comp amazes me (doesn't take much) and probably the most innovative class there is. I'm good friends with the Treadwell's and Glenn is a genius in my book. Jim

It is close racing, IMHO it'd just be nice if the cars were still like they were 15 years ago. They are a bit like NASCAR cars in that they really don't resemble actual street cars, but given the choice, I'd watch Pro Stock hands down every time. Watching cars turn left all day just makes me dizzy. It blows my mind how many people are into it.
