Re: stockers
I wonder with the pushing of limits in Stock and the difficulty with tech inspections, would NHRA ever fold Stock into Super Stock?

It really doesn't fit the thread, the topic is about people claiming the class is filled with cheaters. Which I don't agree with. An approved head by NHRA is not what this topic is about. Does your combo which allows an aluminum head carry more hp? Again, move this post to the tech forum and you will probably get answers. |
Re: stockers
I put that out there because I was told this by a very reliable and knowledgeable source, if it's untrue thanks for clearing it up. My sincere apology to CP Pistons and this entire forum. I also deleted my original post.

It does fit as an example of the grayness I see in the rules... Sometimes it is so confusing especially with the approved replacement stuff. I'll go sit in the truck... can I change the station on the radio? |

Re: stockers
I think all aluminum replacement heads for the OEM heads carried a 5 Hp. penalty to start with.

Re: stockers
I have had the only car with my combination since 1996 that has stayed in current competition. There was at least one other that was built and raced. Said racer was told not to accept our help cause we were cheating and would not give them good information. Said racer also sold car after not being able to get the car to go any faster and moved on.
In the last few years, another racer is running a similar combination to mine, but it has a different HP rating. YET every single aspect of the parts in numerics are the same. From head casting, to throttle body, to piston size. HP rating difference from one car to the other is 50 factory HP!!!!!!!! No clue what their car weighs compared to mine, and really doesnt matter. We both are doing our own thing. Ironically, we run about the same. A pair of one off combinations, even though every aspect of the motors are identical. If one of us had something funny going on, Im sure the barn would tell the tale very quickly. Many years ago, my stuff was used for measurements cause I was the only game around. You take a 305 chebbie, where everyone has on in Stock eliminator............ and it fits how many different cars with how many different castings to mix and match............Id say its a whole lot less easy to find someone who is doing something completely out of whack. Or like earlier said Duster who has been MIA now. Class racing with a big inch bracket motor and getting whacked............. Yeah, we dont like that. Mistakes are one thing........ Like a well known Hemi racer installing the wrong motor for Indy and wondering why he was slower than the other AA cars at the time........... blew it up and found out what motor was in the car............ Didnt like 0wt oil....... OOPS. He laughed and left the track with a short suspension from what I recall.... But then again, a 9" radial is still not legal, right? |
