Terry,
I cleaned out my mailbox. Here is a pic of the Barracuda (2nd owner) - the lettering was changed by the second owner. The car would have been originally blue. Sorry, I don't have any pics of when the 3rd owner had the car. I am not sure if there is anything familiar to you in this pic. Any chance that your brother would have any pics?
Thanks,
Mark J

Bagwell had a couple of Barracudas from what I recall. I think one is in OH, I am not sure where the other one is - I think that one was in Canada for a while as well - I have to check my notes/pics

Charlie,
Will see if my brother has any pics. I can tell you that it was probably a stick shift car at one time, because the trans tunnel had been cut out and made removeable for easier access, I would assume. It was secured with hood pins. Some other items that stand out were that the front inner fenderwells had been removed and it only had a three point roll bar in it. We took it to Barnett's where Frank installed a full cage with swing out drivers side bar.
Thanks,
Terry

With the weekend points meet in the swamp, this just seems like the right BO29 to post for today's Pic Fix:

Hey all,
Long time lurker, although I do not post much. I was directed here by a member on a different racing website. I have made a few runs of these brackets, and have 4 sets available as of now. I had supposed buyers, but some of them had flaked.
They are identical to the original SS seat brackets from Hurst. They are meant to be used with the A-100 seats, but can be used with different seats by simply drilling a couple holes.
Please email me directly if you are interested. These are $200 for a set of 4 brackets. Thanks!

A reminder,, the former "Gentle Ben"/ DeFrank & Cohen/ Harry Holton '68 B029 Hemi Cuda goes on the auction block Saturday June 14th,,, Mecum auction in Seattle, Lot # S203. The Mecum auction is being carried by NBCSN,,, check your listings.
There were a lot of very nice cars up there today as you might imagine. If you're nearby, go check it out,,, if not, catch it on the broadcast. They were advertising 600 cars,, but the word was that there were closer to 800 by the opening this morning.
We had a great time up there today taking it all in.

Hung out with Steve Bagwell at MIR when we pitted next to him and Richard Grfiffin, his SS/BA '64 Plymouth went 9.64 to our 9.97 in Frank Lupo's '64 Dodge with Jim Lovallo in the seat, but we went to the final, and lost to Clayton Wright's Slo Motion '68 Cuda.

Steve was a class act, and Griffin was quite the dude!

Finally got together with Frank Barnett today and asked him about your old Cuda. He said it was not an original Hemi car. He did run it in SG with the wedge motor. He sold it to Steve Bagwell who sold it to a Dr. in Chattanooga and Frank says the Dr. still has it but it has been parked for years. Frank didn't know his name.

Thanks Stewart,
Did he say if he sold it to Steve as a SS/AH car? Or rolling? How are all the Barnett guys doing?

I wish I had taken a picture it was a true barn find. I had some of the best times with that car and should have never sold it.

You'll never guess who I ran into today at a huge car auction (ADESA) here in central New Jersey. Go ahead, guess. That's right, Alan Halsey! He along with yours truly is one of over one-hundred fifty drivers that work at the auction every Thursday, and today Alan and I just so happened to be assigned to the same group of drivers.

If I hadn't of listened in on a conversation he and another guy were having about old VW's, which eventually got around to drag racing and VW's, I would've never chimed in and Alan would've never told me he ran Hemi Super Stockers in the 1970s. Small world, huh?

I told Alan about this forum, mentioned this post and sent him the links. Hopefully he will sign up soon and join the conversation with more info.

Wow that’s great news I would love to hear from Alan. He was probably one of the best 426 Hemi engine builders at the time. We spent a lot of time with him and he was the only one we trusted to build our motors, even when we weren’t partners. Hope all is well with him and his family.

The late Ray Cook and Artie Leong would attest to that! I have Alan's email address. Send me a PM.

Alan looks great. You should've seen his face after he told me his name and I replied: "I know who you are!" :) Alan told me he only had one photo of his old race car. Does anyone have any?

He also asked about Artie Leong. I told Alan that Art posts to the Classracer.com forum. Artie, you out there? Hemi Al would like to hear from you.

I was walking along looking at cars in a museum and had to take a step back for a second look. So I took a couple of pics. I guess it's the only one left and Dick Landy had it at one time. The story I read was they wanted it back , but he said no you gave it to me.

Thanks Wayne,, that was some pretty good reading. I don't blame Landy for not wanting to give it back after all the work he put into it. A cool story.

It would've been great if the engine made it into production especially with the 426 Hemi phased out at the end of the 1971 model year. The Ball Stud Hemi is sort of Chrysler's version of a big block Chevrolet cylinder head but certainly not a copy of it. From what I remember reading in Mopar Action back in the mid-1990s it would've been available in both standard passenger and high performance models in both 400 cu. in. and 440 cu. in. displacements.

Another "shoulda, woulda, coulda" but didn't happen story.

I first met George at either the Spring or Fall Englishtown Swap Meet held at Raceway Park back in 1982 or 1983. He had a bunch of used Mopar parts for sale including three Max Wedge cross rams and matching cylinder heads. A few years later circa 1990 George told me and a buddy of mine he was planning to build a SS/A 1968 Barracuda. And the rest is history.
