Mark, thanks for posting that song. I lived in Texas for 18 years and don't recall hearing it. I listened to C&W all the time. I like it.

Harry Nillson wrote several hit songs in his short life. However this one, his biggest , is actually a cover of a Badfinger song... He owns this one now though.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-ZDKirjQgM This is a bit of a departure, being more of a hard rocker. The drums on this cut are done by Jim Gordon, of Derek and the Dominoes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfjNpgZ4C5Q |

Sometimes you just have to "walk away" from all the BS that is going on today in this country and reset your priorities in life.

The Danleers were an American doo-wop group formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1958. The group's original and most famous lineup consisted of Jimmy Weston, Johnny Lee, Willie Ephraim, Nat McCune, and Roosevelt Mays. One of many streetcorner vocal groups in Brooklyn, they rose to prominence in 1958 on the strength of the single "One Summer Night", written by their manager, Danny Webb, who also named the group. The single was one of the biggest hits of that year and sold over one million copies.

Probably never heard them on your you know what format radio, and it's a damn shame. Featuring , on lead vocal, Peter Rowan, from Wayland, Massachusetts! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCpC...eature=related |

Re: Musical Tastes
I grew up about 30 miles from these guys, but this song was never played on Hartford radio..Maybe the title was too suggestive for the prudes at WPOP and WDRC.
It wasn't called punk back then, either. It IS definitely what is now known as Garage Rock..all the elements are there..The reverb, the echo, the vocal style Just B-A, for 1966! I can tell you that when I listen to The Squires,...so do all my neighbors.. Crank it up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoBB0e-dVhc |

From the "Road" album...One of the best Country Rock records of 1974..Unfortunately somewhat eclipsed ..by the Eagles, Ronstadt, etc.
