Re: Original hemi dart information
Does anyone know of a '68 Hemi SS steel bell housing (# 2463236) for sale? A couple of years ago I told a particular vendor I was converting my original '68 Hemi Dart back to it's factory 4 speed configuration, and he sold me a steel bell...it turns out it's a '64 bell that has a different mounting hole location for the Z bracket..and I don't think will work with a '68 trans. All steel Hemi bell housings are not created equal.

Re: Original hemi dart information
235 & 236 are correct bell housings steel for 63 & 64

Re: Original hemi dart information
I have bell # 2406042, supposedly for a 64 Stage III 426... the Z bar mounting looks the same, the bearing retainer hole is 4.354, same as the '68 Hemi bell 2463236. Are 426 Max Wedge and Hemi the same bolt pattern bell housings ? Thanks

Re: Original hemi dart information
Not sure if it is still available but a couple of months ago in mopar collectors guide classified there was a complete 4 speed set up for an LO23. I know that Moparts forum has members that could be very helpful in your search. Good luck.

The Barracuda is back home Posted in the Barracuda forum
But looking for some correct parts Bake master off set bracket brake Lines Brake master cylinder Battery kit everything front to back Brake rotors Tach cable The list will go on. What was used for gas line and pick up? Should I use the original dual point distributor? Thanks for any help |
Re: Original hemi dart information
For rotors try locating Ford stuff if you cant find the original 68 SS stuff. They used Kelsey Hays also. Quick glance at a buddies scj 68 Mustang they look the same.
Fuel pickup and line were 3/8" Try Jim Kramer for the stuff you need |

Boyd campaigned both on and off the race track. It was a part of his race 'organization' painted black to be a non discript street racer made famous in a as rumoured $250,000.00 street race. This was in the early 70's BTW. The shop he was based out of was J B Automotive. The wareabouts of this car are unknown today. I spoke with Bryan Higgans a few years ago looking for info on my car. Yup great guy. Didnt remember my car tho. liteweight |
Re: Original hemi dart information
I'd hate to be the bearer of corrected news, but that S&K Dart was originally sold to the Mutt Brothers who were a different entity by the name of J&B Automotive a few blocks away from Heavies J&L racing affiliation and Heavy's racing Enterprises. I live just four blocks away from both the J&B joint and Enterprises haunt.
Though it is indeed the car that was in that infamous 1/4 mill-1/4 mile"race against "Big John's" Pro-Camaro. Heavy and Ronald shared a few cars together and IIRC, Heavy ended up with the Dart after all, but at a later date. Rumor has it that the car was lost in a fire at a storage location. Though I have tried in the past to step into heavies old garage with a lot of bouncer dudes denying me entrance, I suspect that the car or at least its charcoal carcass could still be out there lusting for a discovery/recovery . |
Re: Original hemi dart information
Thankyou for that Lee. Glad you set that right. I hate dispusing wrong info. Nothing like having a guy who sits front row center in NY.
